Our family has a time sensitive opportunity to purchase land and a facility for the rehabilitation and release of native songbirds. The name will be “Ascending Bird Sanctuary,” located in McCormick County, Plum Branch, SC. We project that the establishment will not only benefit the songbirds, but it will also serve as a place to bird watch, and act as an educational facility for students and volunteers to be able to participate in a hands-on way of helping our planet, thus building and nurturing a nature conscious community. This is a vision and dream that has been projected for quite some time, but we didn't realize how quickly it would all manifest.
We are planning a fundraiser concert to raise the money which needs to be obtained for a down payment by July 31st or we lose this ideal location and perfect opportunity. Our goal is to have a benefit concert with all proceeds going toward the purchase of this land and future facility. We are also looking for artists who would be willing to contribute some of their art work for the cause. Our idea is to have paintings, carvings, etc. of native birds which will be displayed for purchase or auction, with all proceeds going toward the “Ascending Bird Sanctuary”. If you or a musician you know is interested in participating, we are very grateful as we need all the help we can get! The details of the event are still being discussed, but the date will be either July 21 or 28 in the Appling or Augusta, GA area. And if you didn't know, 2018 happens to be the 100th anniversary of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act known as “The Year of the Bird”!
